Pleasure Rituals
AN ITERATIVE DIGITAL PERFORMANCE PROJECT
Pleasure Rituals is an ongoing series of pre-recorded digital micro performances, meditations and rituals. These virtual visual offerings are not films but rather creative documentations, explorations, experiments and examinations about sacred living designed for virtual audiences.
Not every Pleasure Ritual video is explicitly about pleasure. They are also ceremonies that create the container for joy, fulfillment and pleasure to exist. In a world that treats Black life as if it is disposable, creating these containers are acts of rebellion and resilience - a fugitive practice.
The inaugural works of this series debuted in April 2021 during Lindley’s keynote presentation at the Cultivating Joy and Collective Restoration Virtual Conference at Harvard University and during her virtual performance in A Feeling Good Ritual.
